Welcome to Troop TX-1333! This page walks your family through joining our troop.
Step 1 · Onboarding
New families start here.
- Create a new adult account in Trail Life Connect using our troop registration link.
- Navigate to your new profile page. Under “Household” you may Add New Parent / Guardian and Add Son.
Step 2 · Attendance
- Lanyards must be worn at all meetings and used to check in and out.
- You may print your Trailman’s ID card from his Trail Life Connect profile page.
- Replacement lanyards may be purchased from the troop for $5.
Step 3 · Calendar & Communication
Troop calendar & RSVPs
The Trail Life Connect calendar is the source of truth for every troop event — it is the first place to look, and where you RSVP for events. Subscribe once and every event appears on your phone automatically. You can also preview events on our troop calendar page.
Signal messaging
Day-to-day troop communication happens on Signal. Download the app, then request to join the threads that fit your family. After you scan or tap a group link, the Troopmaster must approve your request — you may not be admitted instantly.

Step 4 · Health & Safety
Required update for all members, every year.
Fill it out online — one sitting covers your whole family: shared info is entered once, each Trailman and adult gets his own official form, you snap photos of your insurance card, sign electronically, and everything files straight to the troop’s protected Health & Safety records. You can download your own copies too (returning families: keep the answers file and next year takes two minutes).
- Every Trailman needs an updated Health & Safety form each year.
- Adults participating in an overnight campout must also complete an adult H&S form — and give a copy of your driver’s license to the Health & Safety Chair.
- Include both sides of your medical insurance card — you’ll photo-upload them right in the online form.
Step 5 · Uniforms
Purchase on your own from the Trail Life USA store.
Troop Uniform — required
The formal button-up green uniform, worn to troop and patrol meetings. Patches, branches, and awards earned are worn on this uniform. Order the Troop Uniform Build-Your-Own Bundle.
- Required items: Button Troop Uniform Shirt, Lanyard, and Shoulder Loops (patrol rank).
- Select the shoulder loops for your Trailman’s patrol rank:
- K–1st — Woodlands Fox
- 2nd–3rd — Woodlands Hawk
- 4th–5th — Woodlands Mountain Lion
- 6th–8th — Navigator
- 9th–11th — Adventurer
- Trail Life pants are not required. Fox / Hawk / Mountain Lions may wear neutral-color shorts, pants, or athletic shorts. Navigators / Adventurers wear neutral-color shorts, pants, or jeans suitable to the event.
- Registered Adults are strongly encouraged to wear a Troop Uniform to events with their Trailman.
Trail Shirt — required
Any Trail Life officially branded shirt or apparel, worn at less formal events — outside activities, camping, service events, Hit the Trail events. Sweat-wicking poly material is recommended.
- Woodlands Trail (Fox / Hawk / Mountain Lion) — Green Trail Shirt
- Navigators — Gray Trail Shirt
- Adventurers — Blue Trail Shirt
- Adults are encouraged to wear a trail shirt matching their Trailman’s color. Travel uniform wicking polos are an excellent option if you prefer not to wear a t-shirt.
Handbook
- Woodlands Trail handbook for Fox / Hawk / Mountain Lion — optional.
- Navigators & Adventurers handbook — required for all Trailmen at those levels.
Save money: used uniforms
- Consignment: outgrown items can be washed, bagged with item and payment details noted, and offered to other families — we recommend half price or less depending on condition.
- There’s also a Trail Life USA Yard Sale Facebook group just for used Trail Life uniform items.
Step 6 · Payment
TX-1333 uses Zelle for payments to the troop. Zelle is natively supported by most banks as well as a mobile app.
Annual troop dues

Memo field — please read
- For dues, put “Troop Dues” in the memo field.
- For events, put the event name in the memo (e.g. “Huntsville Campout”). This is how the troop reconciles payments.
- Please do not combine multiple activities in one payment (e.g. dues + a campout) — send separate payments so each can be matched to the right activity.
Can’t use Zelle? You can pay by card instead — card processing fees are added to your payment so the troop receives the full amount. Or see the Treasurer at Table 6 and we’ll record your payment manually.
Step 7 · Lanyard & Patch
- New members receive a lanyard for each Trailman.
- Returning members may purchase an additional lanyard for $5.
